Max E. Ammann writes a personal column for the Swiss weekly magazine PferdeWoche on the actualities in the national and international equestrian sport.

His third column with the title "Der Fall Sapphire und McLain Ward" was published in the edition 23 on 16.06.2010.

Beim Weltcup Final in Genf wurde das Pferd Sapphire von McLain Ward nach der zweiten Wertungsprüfung disqualifiziert wegen Hypersensibilität am Kronrand des linken Vorderbeins. Dieses Verdikt soll in keiner Weise in Frage gestellt werden. Ein Pferd das leidet – und dieses Leiden wurde von drei Tierärzten bestätigt, darf nicht an den Start gebracht werden.
