In einem Kommentar zur verlorenen Olympia-Abstimmung in Hamburg (GER) schrieb der Tagesanzeiger-Journalist als Erklärung: «Die Abscheu vor dem Saustall Sport hat weite Kreise des Volkes erreicht.» Er bezog sich bei dieser Einschätzung vor allem auf die hohen FIFA-Funktionäre in Handschellen vor dem Zürcher Hotel «Baur au Lac» und auf das Staatsdoping in der Leichtathletik Russlands.
