Max E. Ammann writes a personal column for the Swiss weekly magazine PferdeWoche on the actualities in the national and international equestrian sport.
His 190th column with the title "100 Jahre Finnland" was published in the edition 14 on 12.04.2017.
An den fünften Olympischen Spielen von 1912 in Stockholm gehörte Oskar Wilkman zur zaristischen Fünfkampfmannschaft. Er wurde 15. Wilkman stammte aus Finnland, das damals als autonomes Grossfürstentum zum russischen Reich gehörte. Wilkman war Offizier und diente in der Zaristischen Armee. Am 6. Dezember 1917 verkündete das finnische Parlament – also kurz nach der russischen Revolution und dem Sturz des Zaren – die Unabhängigkeit Finnlands.
