The opening spectacle was performed simultaneously on all 4 Arteplages and told stories of people and showed that our destiny at the beginning of the third millennium lies in our hands. The audience was, thanks to a giant screen in front of the tribunes of the respective Arteplages, everywhere at once. The transmissions of the SRG SSR idée suisse achieved the following market shares: 36.4% of the German, 42.1% of the French and 15.2% of the Italian speaking Swiss. Approximately 850’000 spectators watched the entire opening ceremony on TV, while more than 1.8 million watched the opening ceremony in whole or in part.

The show was performed at 3 nights (14., 15. and 16.05.2002) at the Arteplage Neuchâtel.

Ralph Ammann was Head of Events Arteplage Neuchâtel and, until 2001, Manager of Logistics for the directorate events during the preparation phase of Expo.02.
